Light, mid or dark
Light grey suits south-facing rooms and small bedrooms where you want a neutral that isn't quite white. Mid grey is the most popular — it has presence without dominating. Dark slate grey is bold but reads beautifully in larger rooms with good natural light.
Pairs with
Grey wardrobes pair particularly well with warm wood flooring (oak, walnut), brass or aged-brass handles, and walls in off-white, pale pink or soft sage.
Frequently asked questions
- Will dark grey make the room feel smaller?
- Surprisingly little, provided you keep the walls and ceiling light. Dark joinery on one wall actually adds depth — the room reads larger because the dark wall recedes.
