What 'fitted' actually means
A fitted wardrobe is built specifically for the room it lives in. Carcasses are sized to the exact wall width and ceiling height, scribed into uneven plaster, and trimmed against skirting and cornices so the joinery reads as part of the architecture rather than a piece of furniture pushed against a wall.
We do not sell modules with filler strips. Every interior — hanging rails, drawer banks, shelves, shoe racks — is sized to the door layout above, so opening a door reveals usable storage straight away rather than a structural divider.
Door styles available
All SAV door styles are available across fitted wardrobes. Multi-panel shaker doors suit period London homes; flat slab doors in plain or wood-grain laminate work in newer flats and minimalist interiors; sliding mirror or glass doors save floor space in tight rooms.
- Shaker — 2, 3 or 4 recessed panels, brass knobs or handleless
- One-panel hinged — single recessed panel, period-friendly
- Flush hinged — slab door, push-to-open or hidden J-pull
- Sliding mirror — bronze, grey or silver-tinted glass
- Sliding glass — frosted or clear tempered glass in slim aluminium frames
How long does it take?
Standard lead time is six to eight weeks from a signed-off design. That covers a home survey (typically within seven days of booking), technical drawings and material samples, CNC manufacturing in our workshop, and a one or two-day installation in your home.
How much do fitted wardrobes cost?
Fitted wardrobes from SAV start at around £1,600 per linear metre for a flush-door laminate run and rise to £2,400+ per metre for a walk-in dressing room with full interior fit-out. Full pricing examples — including a typical alcove run, full-wall fitted wardrobe and walk-in dressing room — are on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
- Can fitted wardrobes go in alcoves?
- Yes. Alcove runs flanking a chimney breast are one of the most popular SAV configurations — see our dedicated alcove wardrobes page.
- Do fitted wardrobes add value to a London home?
- Estate agents typically report that good fitted bedroom joinery returns most of its cost on sale, particularly in period homes where built-in storage is expected.
- Can you fit around radiators, sockets and skirting?
- Yes. Surveys capture every obstruction, and we scribe carcasses, cut for sockets and notch around skirting on site so the run sits flush to the wall.
