Why made-to-measure beats off-the-shelf
Off-the-shelf sliding doors come in fixed widths — usually 600, 750 or 914 mm. London walls rarely divide evenly. The result is a filler panel at one end that looks like the doors have run out of space.
SAV sliding doors are cut to the wall width and divided into 2, 3 or 4 doors that all read at the same width, with frames that align with the room's architraves.
Mirror, glass or panel?
Mirror bounces light around — best for darker rooms and rooms where you want a full-length mirror anyway. Frosted glass reads as a soft wall plane and works well in modern flats. Laminate panel matches the rest of the joinery if you want the wardrobes to recede.
- Mirror — plain silver, bronze-tinted or grey-tinted
- Glass — frosted, clear or backed with a coloured panel for depth
- Laminate — plain colour or wood-grain in any of our standard finishes
Frequently asked questions
- Can sliding doors be fitted to existing wardrobes?
- Yes — we can retrofit a top-hung track to existing carcasses provided the structure is sound and there's room above the opening for the track.
- Is there a bottom track to trip over?
- Our standard tracks recess into the floor where the subfloor allows, leaving a flush threshold.
