Wardrobe lighting

Lighting that makes the inside as good as the outside

Good wardrobe lighting changes how often you use the wardrobe. Done well, the lights come on when you open the door and turn off when you close it — no switches, no fumbling, no shadows over what you're trying to find.

LED strips along every rail

We run LED strip lighting along the top of every hanging rail and under every fixed shelf. Warm white (2700K) is the default — it flatters skin tones in mirrors and reads as 'evening lamp light' rather than 'utility room'.

Motion sensors

Door-mounted PIR sensors trigger the lights as the door opens and switch them off 60 seconds after it closes. No switches to find, no batteries to change, no lights left on overnight.

In walk-in dressing rooms we use ceiling-mounted PIRs so the lights come on as you walk in rather than as you open a door.

Glass-top drawer lighting

A glass-top drawer with internal LED becomes a display case for watches, jewellery, ties and folded knitwear. The light is wired through the drawer runner so it comes on as the drawer is opened and goes off as it closes.

Power and dimming

Most installations use 24V low-voltage strips with a hidden driver. Where the room layout allows we hardwire to a fused spur for a cleaner finish (no plug visible inside the wardrobe). Dimming and tunable-white options are available on request.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an electrician to wire the lighting?
Sometimes. Low-voltage LED systems plug into a 13A socket inside the wardrobe and don't need an electrician. Hardwired systems (cleaner, no plug visible) do. We'll tell you at survey.
What colour temperature do you recommend?
2700K warm white for bedrooms, 3000K for dressing rooms where colour accuracy matters more, 4000K for utility-style storage. We can do tunable white if you want to adjust.
Will the lights stay on if I forget?
Motion-sensor strips have an auto-off (typically 60 or 180 seconds after the door closes). Manually switched lights stay on until you turn them off — we recommend sensors.
