Sliding Wardrobes London — Made to Measure for Any Room

Custom sliding wardrobes designed, manufactured and fitted across Greater London. No wasted space, no standard sizes — just clean lines that work with your room.

Sliding wardrobes suit London bedrooms better than almost any other door style. In narrow rooms they remove the swing arc of hinged doors. In larger rooms they let you run wardrobes wall-to-wall without breaks. And because the track is top-hung, there is no bottom rail to trip over or collect dust. We design and build every sliding wardrobe to the exact width, height and depth of your space — whether that is a straight wall, an alcove, or an angled loft room.

Why choose sliding wardrobes for London bedrooms?

Space-saving design for smaller rooms

The average London bedroom is not large. Victorian and Edwardian houses often have box rooms under 2.5 metres wide, and even new builds prioritise living space over storage. Sliding doors solve the obvious problem: you do not need clearance in front of the wardrobe to open it. That means you can place a bed, desk or chest of drawers closer to the wardrobe wall and still access everything inside. A typical hinged door needs 50–60 cm of swing space; a sliding door needs none. Over a full wall of wardrobes, that is a meaningful chunk of floor area reclaimed.

We also build sliding wardrobes in awkward spaces where hinged doors are impractical: under sloped ceilings, in L-shaped alcoves, and across chimney breasts. The track system lets us split doors asymmetrically — one narrow door over a recessed section, one wide door over the main run — so every centimetre of wall is usable.

Mirror, glass or panel door options

Sliding doors give you more surface area to work with, which makes them ideal for finishes that need uninterrupted planes. Full-length mirrors are the classic choice: they reflect light, make a room feel larger, and remove the need for a separate dressing mirror. We use 4 mm safety-backed mirror with polished or bevelled edges, set into aluminium or steel frames.

Toughened glass in grey, bronze or black is a quieter alternative. It gives the same reflective depth without the literal reflection, which some people find less distracting in a bedroom. Laminate or veneered panels work well in period properties where you want the wardrobe to read as joinery rather than furniture. And fluted or reeded panels add texture and shadow lines that catch light differently throughout the day.

Most projects mix two or three finishes: mirror in the centre to open up the room, flanking panels in laminate or veneer to anchor it. We bring physical samples to the survey so you can see how each material behaves in your actual light.

Sliding wardrobe styles we build

Antique bronze mirror frames

Bronze-tinted mirror set into slim steel or aluminium frames with a dark bronze powder coat. The tone is warmer than silver mirror and less clinical than plain glass. It pairs well with darker interiors — navy walls, charcoal bedding, walnut floors — and the frame gives the door a deliberate, crafted edge rather than a sheet-glass look. We use this regularly in master bedrooms and guest rooms where the wardrobe faces the bed and needs to feel considered rather than purely functional.

Fluted reeded panels

Vertical reeds routed into MDF or solid timber, laminate or left as natural veneer. The texture breaks up large flat surfaces and casts subtle vertical shadows that draw the eye upward, which helps in rooms with low ceilings. We can vary the reed spacing — tight for a more formal feel, wider for something looser and more contemporary. These panels work particularly well in Edwardian and 1930s houses where there is already decorative plasterwork or panelling to echo.

Full-length laminate-faced MDF

The simplest and most flexible option: moisture-resistant MDF, primed and finished in any colour. We offer the full Egger laminate range, plus any brand reference you bring us for colour matching. The finish is smooth, hard-wearing and easy to touch up if it gets knocked in future. Because sliding doors are large flat planes, a factory-finished laminate looks more uniform than a hand-applied finish — no brush marks, no drips, no variation between doors. This is the style we specify most often for family homes and rental refurbishments where durability matters as much as looks.

How much do sliding wardrobes cost in London?

Sliding wardrobes typically sit in the mid-to-upper range of our pricing because the track system, door panels and installation all involve more precision than hinged doors. As a guide:

  • laminate-faced MDF sliding doors — around £1,600–£1,900 per linear metre. Includes top-hung track, soft-close mechanism, carcass and installation.
  • Mirror or glass sliding doors — around £1,800–£2,200 per linear metre. Specialist glass, safety backing and frame machining add cost.
  • Premium veneer with integrated handles — £2,000–£2,500 per linear metre. Natural timber, book-matched grain, concealed track where possible.

A two-and-a-half-metre wall of laminate sliding wardrobes would typically cost £4,000–£5,000 installed. A four-metre run with mixed mirror and fluted panels might reach £7,500–£9,000. The survey gives you a fixed quote based on your exact room, not an estimate.

From survey to install in four weeks

Our lead time for sliding wardrobes is four weeks from confirmed survey to installation, assuming standard finishes. The process is straightforward: you book a £150 home survey, we laser-measure and produce technical drawings, you approve the fixed quote and colour samples, and we manufacture while you prepare the room. Installation usually takes one day for a single wall, two days for a larger or more complex run.

We handle everything in-house — design, CNC cutting, edge-banding, spraying and fitting — so there is no gap between what was drawn and what gets built. If your room has uneven floors, angled ceilings or an existing chimney breast, we factor that into the drawings rather than cutting on site and hoping for the best.
