Fitted Wardrobes South London — Bespoke Made, Locally Installed

Made-to-measure fitted wardrobes designed, manufactured and installed across South London. From Victorian terraces in Brixton to 1930s semis in Streatham, we build storage that works with the architecture.

South London has a character all of its own — a mix of solid Victorian stock brick, tidy Edwardian terraces, sprawling 1930s suburbs, and pockets of new-build apartments around the mainline stations. The bedrooms vary enormously: some are compact with awkward alcoves, others are surprisingly generous with room for a full wall of joinery. We have fitted wardrobes across Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth and Lewisham, and every project starts with the same step: understanding the room, not imposing a product.

Boroughs we serve across South London

Bexley

Bexley is one of the more suburban outer London boroughs, with a mix of 1930s semis, post-war estates, and pockets of older Victorian housing around Bexleyheath. The bedrooms tend to be generous, which makes them ideal for full-wall wardrobe installations with mixed internals. Clients here often want practical, hard-wearing storage for family homes rather than statement pieces — laminate-faced MDF, soft-close hinges, and plenty of hanging and drawer space.

Bromley

Bromley covers a large area from Beckenham down to Orpington, with housing that ranges from Victorian villas to modern new builds. The 1930s stock in particular has large bedrooms where we regularly fit his-and-hers wardrobes or dressing rooms. In the older Victorian pockets around Crystal Palace and Penge we work with alcoves, chimney breasts, and original features that need to be preserved rather than covered up.

Croydon

Croydon has seen significant regeneration, and the housing stock now ranges from Victorian terraces in the north to modern apartment blocks in the centre and post-war semis in the south. We fit wardrobes across all of these — shaker-style in the period houses, flush-handle minimalist in the new builds, and practical family storage in the 1960s and 1970s houses where durability matters more than design flair.

Greenwich

Greenwich combines some of London's most historic housing with some of its newest. The Georgian and Victorian terraces around Greenwich Park need careful, period-sensitive joinery — matching skirting profiles, respecting picture rails, and working around fireplaces. In the new developments around the Peninsula and Woolwich we fit clean, contemporary wardrobes that suit the modern architecture. The Royal Arsenal conversions are a particular speciality.

Kingston upon Thames

Kingston has a village-like feel with a mix of Edwardian semis, 1930s houses, and modern riverside developments. The older properties often have large bedrooms where clients want traditional-style wardrobes — shaker doors, panelled sides, and heritage laminate shades. The new builds need something different: flush doors, integrated handles, and interiors that maximise every centimetre of a typically compact master suite.

Lambeth

Lambeth covers Brixton, Clapham, Streatham, and the South Bank — one of the most diverse housing markets in London. Victorian terraces dominate, with long, narrow bedrooms and chimney breasts that demand alcove wardrobes. We also work in the modern apartments around Vauxhall and Nine Elms, where the brief is usually for minimal, handleless wardrobes in white or grey that disappear into the walls. Every project is different, and we design accordingly.

Lewisham

Lewisham includes Forest Hill, Sydenham, Brockley, and Catford — areas with strong Victorian and Edwardian housing stock and a growing population of young families renovating their first homes. The bedrooms are often compact but full of character, with bay windows, fireplaces, and original cornices. We fit alcove wardrobes, full-wall units, and under-stairs storage that makes the most of every space without stripping out the features that make these houses desirable.

Merton

Merton covers Wimbledon, Mitcham, and Morden — a mix of affluent suburbia and more affordable family housing. The Wimbledon side tends to have larger Edwardian and 1930s properties where we fit premium wardrobes in walnut, oak, or laminate-finished finishes. In Mitcham and Morden the housing is more varied, and clients often want practical, budget-conscious solutions that still look built-in rather than flat-pack.

Richmond upon Thames

Richmond is one of London's most affluent boroughs, and the expectations are correspondingly high. We regularly fit wardrobes in large Victorian and Edwardian houses in Richmond and Twickenham, and in modern riverside apartments in Teddington and Ham. The period properties often need matching joinery — skirting profiles, cornice details, and fine veneers — while the new builds call for minimal, handleless designs in muted tones. Either way, the finish has to be flawless.

Southwark

Southwark stretches from the river up to Dulwich and includes some of London's most densely packed Victorian housing. The terraces in Peckham, Camberwell, and Walworth typically have small bedrooms with awkward alcoves and chimney breasts that standard wardrobes cannot accommodate. We build to the exact dimensions of each alcove, scribing to out-of-plumb walls and boxing around pipes so the final unit looks original to the house.

Sutton

Sutton is a suburban borough with a strong family feel — 1930s semis, post-war estates, and pockets of newer development. The bedrooms are typically spacious but not extravagant, and clients want practical storage that lasts. We fit a lot of laminate-faced MDF wardrobes here with soft-close hinges, pull-out drawers, and double hanging rails. The focus is on durability and function, delivered with a clean, modern look.

Wandsworth

Wandsworth covers Battersea, Putney, Tooting, and Wandsworth Town — an enormous range of housing from riverside mansion blocks to Victorian terraces and modern apartment towers. The Victorian stock around Earlsfield and Tooting is particularly suited to our alcove wardrobes, while the new developments in Nine Elms need sleek, handleless units in white or grey. Putney and Battersea have larger properties where dressing rooms and walk-in wardrobes are common requests.

Wardrobe ideas for South London's terrace houses

The classic South London terrace has two decent-sized bedrooms at the front and a smaller one at the rear, with a chimney stack running through the middle. Our most common layout is a pair of alcove wardrobes flanking the chimney breast in the master bedroom, plus a single full-height unit in the smaller room. This gives roughly 3.5 linear metres of storage in the master without dominating the room.

For the front bedrooms with bay windows, we sometimes run the wardrobe along the party wall instead, leaving the bay free for light. In rear bedrooms we often use sliding doors to save the swing space in front of the wardrobe, which makes the room feel larger. And in loft conversions — increasingly common in Clapham and Brixton — we build under the eaves with low-profile doors and interior drawers that pull out into the full-height section.

Recent South London projects

A recent install in SW4 involved a full wall of laminate-faced MDF wardrobes in a Victorian terrace master bedroom. The client wanted a calm, minimal look, so we specified flush doors with integrated handles, finished in our Egger laminate range "Ammonite". Internals were half hanging, half drawers, with a pull-down rail for the high section. Install took one day.

In SE23 we fitted an L-shaped wardrobe into a 1930s semi with a chimney breast on one wall and a doorway on the other. The solution was a shallow unit along the chimney wall (shoes and accessories) and a deeper unit on the return wall (double hanging and drawers). The corner was opened up with a 270-degree hinge so nothing was trapped behind a fixed panel.
